Organic Dog Treat Recipes For Your Pet

Sometimes it's nice to make your own dog snacks. There are an abundance of organic dog treat recipes for you to choose from. The most important thing to keep in mind when you cook for a dog is that you never use foods that can harm them. There foods that are commonly eaten by humans can be toxic and fatal for dogs. If you're unsure of an ingredient, check before you use it in a recipe. Chocolate, raisins, and onions are just a few of the foods that dogs cannot eat. Also be sure to choose all natural, organic ingredients when you shop.

While grain is in many lower quality dog foods, it's not something that dogs need much of. Choose whole grain flour when you're making your pet's snacks. Egg, applesauce, and peanut butter along with some flour makes some tasty cookies. Use a baking pan to make drop cookies with this recipe. Bake them for 11-15 minutes for best results. If you don't want to bake them, leave the egg out.

If you find organic baby food on sale, pick some up for your pooch. Baby food is super healthy, it doesn't have the salt, or fat that adult food has. Add some chicken to these jars of baby food and you'll have a happy canine on your hands.

For some extra fun get a bone shaped cookie cutter. Mix up dough using whole wheat flour, slow cooking oats, an egg, and peanut butter. Mix it up, roll it out and cut out bone shaped cookies. They're adorable. They also make a nice take along gift when you visit a friend with pets.

Boil chicken and save the broth for treats. Cut up some cooked chicken, and add some broth and a small amount of flour to the bowl. Mix everything together and roll it into balls. These will last for a couple of days and can be given as treats, or added to the animal's regular food.

Here is another treat that can be made with boiled chicken. Shred chicken, put it in a bowl with some of the broth. Add flour, a tablespoon of cinnamon, and a small amount of oil. Mix everything well and drop spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet. Bake these for 15-20 minutes.

During hot weather your pet might like a cold treat, and you can make sure that he or she gets one. Melt some peanut butter in a saucepan. Be sure to use low heat. Add some plain yogurt to the peanut butter and mix it well. Drop spoonfuls of this mixture onto a wax paper lined cookie sheet. Put the pan in the freezer until the snacks are frozen. Store them in a zippered freezer bag inside the freezer.

All of the above snacks can even be eaten by humans, if they were inclined to do so. Your pet will love them, and you can feel good knowing you're giving your pet something nutritious to eat. You'll also save some cash over the cost of buying them already made.
