During the peak pumpkin season, there will be pumpkins all over the place. It is a very nutritious vegetable as it contains great measure of fiber and other vital nutrients. You could try so many different fresh pumpkin recipes and most of them are readily available on the internet.

Although canned pumpkins are available all around the year but if you have the option, you should substitute the canned ones with fresh pumpkins. If you want to use pumpkin puree in any of your recipes, simply de-seed and slice it and roast it in the oven over medium heat for about thirty minutes. When it cools down, just mash it or blend it making sure all the skin is removed properly. Now this puree can be used in many of your recipes.

Another way of making puree is to peel, de-seed and then cut the pumpkin into big chunks and put them in a pan of boiling water. Let it cook until the pumpkin cubes become tender, now drain the water and mash or blend to make a puree out of it.

You can make soup using pumpkins and it tastes just superb. You may also add chicken or vegetable stock in the soup. Moreover it could be made a but chunkier by adding certain vegetables like carrots, onions, leeks, cabbage and many more. Adding spices may enhance its flavor to a great degree.

They are also used in baking cakes and they taste so yummy that you will never stop craving for them. Pumpkins could taste a bit mild on their own so to add more flavor to the cake you might have to add some spices like nutmeg, cloves, ginger or cinnamon.

You would find pumpkins everywhere during the Halloween season because everyone tends to decorate their houses with carved pumpkins. As more people tend to buy pumpkins during that period therefore you will find abundant of recipes all across the internet. From pumpkin savory dishes to desserts you would find everything on the internet.

Pies and pancakes are also very easy to make and they taste great as well. In most of the recipes, pureed form of pumpkin is used so you could simply use all of it to make puree and then store it in your fridge or freezer and use that puree whenever you require it. You can store it in the fridge for about 2 weeks and in the freezer for approximately 6 weeks.

Fresh ingredients should always be preferred as compared to canned or jarred ingredients. You may used the jarred or canned variety only when the fresh ingredient is not available in market but in such situation you are not left with any other option. The taste of jarred or canned items is not that great because they undergo various different processes so that their shelf life could be increased which impacts on their taste.
